Watch Darren speak about his amazing organization and all the cool stuff about Darren has an extensive background in helping new, technology-based businesses succeed and grow. He has provided mentoring and business development services to researchers and small businesses in a variety of sectors through his work with the Science Council of British Columbia, the National Research Council’s Indsutrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP), the British Columbia Nanotechnology Alliance and the Canadian Institute for Photonic Innovations. Darren holds a BSc in Geology from the University of Calgary. He is an active volunteer, mentoring graduate students and student entrepreneurs. Darren is also immediate past-president of the Vancouver Entrepreneurs Toastmasters Club. ![]() Established in April 2008 with a $25 million grant from the BC government, the BC Bioenergy Network is an industry-led initiative that acts as a catalyst for deploying near-term bioenergy technologies and organizing mission-driven research for the development and demonstration of new bioenergy technologies that are environmentally sustainable for the province of BC. BC is well positioned to become a major player in the global bioenergy sector. The province is steward to one of the largest forested areas in the world and a leader in biomass to value-added wood products.
