History:

The Social Butterfly Club started in May 2004 to create more opportunities of socialization, business development, learning.  It began with the idea of weekend courses on the art of tea and coffee, fixing your bike, white water rafting etc.  Yet as the founder networked within the lower mainland, it was evident that there is an immediate need for small business owners to be out there constantly to establish their brand awareness, find suppliers, and attract new clients.  Thus the main purpose for this club was born.  Social Butterfly Club is mainly an online community, yet we provide useful and timely information to keep you in the loop.

Founder:

Alice Zhou is a multi-talented event producer and publicist. She brings a spotlight to her clients for more brand awareness through events, press and social media. She is the winner of Cultural DiverseCity Youth Enterpreneur Business Award in 2007, and a graduate of Simon Fraser University with a degree in Communications. She has orchestrated a variety of functions in her career ranging from conference, product launch, grand opening, tradeshow, fundraising gala, and live/silent auction. She has taught several Events Management courses at Vancouver Community College, and had her articles published in the Vancouver View Magazine. Her clients include the Greater Vancouver Real Estate Board, Credential Ethical Fund, B.C. Federation of Foster Parents, BC Aviation Council.

Her passion for building relationships and creating a massive network, to provide resources and information to help facilitate additional entrepreneurship got her to create a Business Social Club aptly named Social Butterfly Club 7 years ago, currently at 5,600 members in the Lower Mainland. She is rather active in the community; currently a board member for Working Gear, and volunteer for Dress for Success. Alice also speaks regular to various civic groups on the topic of "Networking", "Event Management", "Social Media", and "How to become a Public Speaker".

Mission:

Living A Life That Matters

Ready or not, someday it will all come to an end.  There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days. All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else.Your wealth, fame, temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance. It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed.  Your grudges, resentments, fraustrations, and jealousies will finally disappear.  So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will expire. The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.  It won't matter where you came from, or on what side of the tracks you lived, at the end.It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant.Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.  So what will matter?  How will the value of your days be measured?  What will matter is not what you brought, but what you built; not what you got, but what you gave. What will matter is not your success, but your significance. What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught.what will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example. What will matter is not your competence, but your character. What will matter is not how many people you know, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone.what will matter is not your memories, but the memories that lives in those who loved you. What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.Living a life that matters, doesn't happen by accident.  It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice.Choose to live a life that matters.
