Genus Theatre and Upintheair Theatre are proud to announce their first collaboration, staging the Vancouver Premiere of acclaimed Canadian playwright Eugene Stickland’s award-winning play. A Guide to Mourning has been performed to acclaim throughout much of Canada and we are pleased to bring this distinguished script to Vancouver.
A father’s death reunites Deirdre (Brenda Matthews) with her three adult children. The eldest, Rex (Daniel Martin), is homeless. Lewis (Frano Marsic) is the fussy middle child with an unhealthy attachment to expensive running shoes and their sister, Sandra (Kelly Sheridan), shuns emotion for designer dresses. Together they attempt to plan their father’s final passage with what one would hope to be a sense of tender urgency and intimacy. But in a play that is at once unsettling and hysterical, both bleak and hopeful, the family is so consumed with serving their own needs first that the actual funeral seems doomed from the start.
A Guide to Mourning, a 90 minute show, premieres at Performance Works on Granville Island this June 8th. Tickets are $18 ($14 for students) and may be purchased at the door or in advance at www.brownpapertickets.ca , or by calling 1-800-838-3006.

$15 million Gov't Funding to Greenify our small biz in LiveSmart BC Program |
Small businesses across BC will be able to access free energy-efficiency advice, equipment and incentives with the new LiveSmart BC: Small Business Program.
Launched on January 31st by the Minister for Energy, Steve Thompson, he commented that the program intends "to make efficiency upgrades easy and affordable so entrepreneurs can focus on what matters most: serving their customers".
Building on the Live Smart: Efficiency Incentive Program, by Successful You Awards sponsor BC Hydro, this new program will support small business owners who may not have the time, information or resources to make energy efficient improvements.
There are four components to the initiative:
Business Energy Advisors who will provide free assessments and help owners tap into product incentives and rebates.
Direct Installation which fund 100% of the cost of replacing and installing key equipment.
Enhanced Product Incentives which will increase cash rebates for more than 10,000 energy efficient products.
LiveSmart Champion who will provide funding for new, innovative ways to conserve energy.
The program is forecast to save businesses over $7 million in utility costs, with more than 4,000 small businesses expected to benefit from direct installation and incentives.

Do you guys remember the game last year about what color bra you were wearing at the moment? For those of you who didn't participate in the game, what happened was that females posted the colour of the bra that they were wearing at that moment in their status on Facebook. Facebook statuses were full of colors and it had males everywhere wondering why.
The purpose was to increase awareness of October Breast Cancer Awareness month. It was a tremendous success and we had men wondering for days what was with the colors and it made it to the news.
This year's game has to do with your handbag/purse. We want to know where you put your handbag the moment you get home for example "I like it on the couch", "I like it on the kitchen counter", "I like it on the dresser." Well, you get the idea.
